First introduced in 2000 World heart day was created to bring awareness and information to heart disease and stroke which are the world’s leading causes of death, claiming 17.3 million lives each year. World Heart day takes place on September 29th each year with a different focus theme.

This year the theme focuses on creating heart-healthy environments. Together with World Heart Federation members, World Heart Day spreads the news that at least 80% of premature deaths from cardiovascular disease (CVD) could be avoided if four main risk factors – tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and harmful use of alcohol – are controlled.

Please take the time to show your support for the cause and sign-up for their petition to prioritise the need for heart-healthy environments wherever people live work, or play. Join us on World Heart Day for better.
