Our Views, Our Voices – Wesly’s story from Haiti – Weekly Highlight
Wesly loves playing football and riding a bike. A few years ago, he never thought he would do either again. A childhood infection left him with rheumatic heart disease and in need of a life-saving operation, which was impossible to perform in his native Haiti. With the help of the Haiti Cardiac Alliance, Wesly was flown to the Cayman Islands. Today, he has new heart valves and renewed hope. Between his high school studies, he campaigns to improve infrastructure, and access to medicine and treatment for all Haitians with, or at risk of cardiac disorders.
